Even though it had started less than a year before, by the summer of 2006,?YouTube was already ranked by Alexa as the Internet?s 5th most visited website. According to a July 16, 2006 survey, 100 million video clips were already being viewed daily on YouTube, with an additional 65,000 new videos being uploaded every 24 hours. This was the same year that Time Magazine featured a YouTube screen with a large mirror as its annual ?Person of the Year.? By May 2011, YouTube reported in its company blog that the site was receiving more than three billion views per day. Nissan Motor Co. is considering the move in order to be more competitive against Indian and Chinese automakers when it comes to attracting the middle-class consumers, according to a senior executive. Nissan thinks that Africa is a market that?s becoming gradually more significant as it is growing quickly. Nissan has revealed plans to spend over $122 million to double its production capacity in South Africa, according to Autonews. Nissan revealed months ago that it will be reviving Datsun in Indonesia, India and Russia, to attract first-time buyers in growing markets.?But a cheap entry-level vehicle is necessary to widen their market share in Africa?s low-income consumers. Toshiyuki Shiga addressed reporters during a briefing at Nissan?s plant in Rosslyn, outside Pretoria. He told them that the automakers based in Korea, India, and China are acting more aggressively in the emerging markets. However, Shiga said that they?re still studying the plan and so no decision has been made yet. Nissan?s rivals like Tata Motors (India) and Geely Automobile Holdings (China) have more experience in low-income markets than Nissan or Japanese automakers such as Toyota Motor Corp. Nissan sells its Micra unit in South Africa for about 110,000 rand ($13,400) ? a high price in a country where almost 40% of the population survive on less than $3 a day. The first chapter of a terror case that has haunted <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1345740808_2">Norway</span> for 13 months will end Friday as confessed mass killer <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1345740808_0">Anders Behring Breivik</span> receives his judgment for attacks that left 77 people dead and more than 200 injured.</p><p>After deliberating for two months, a five-judge panel in <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1345740808_1">Oslo</span>'s district court will decide whether to send the right-wing extremist to prison or a mental hospital.</p><p>Breivik, a 33-year-old Norwegian on a mission to expel Muslims from Europe, set off a car bomb that killed eight people outside government headquarters in Oslo and he then killed 69 others in a shooting rampage on Utoya island, where young members of the governing Labor Party had gathered for their annual summer camp. Breivik says he would appeal an insanity ruling but accept a prison term.</p><p>Here are some questions and answers about the case and possible outcomes on Friday.</p><p>Q: Is Breivik's guilt in question?</p><p>A: Essentially, no. He has admitted to the attacks and nothing in the criminal investigation suggests there was anyone else involved. He rejected criminal charges out of principle, saying he doesn't recognize the court's authority because it represents a political system that supports multiculturalism. But that argument is highly unlikely to sway the court, and the same goes for his claim that the killings were justified to protect Norway from becoming overrun by Muslims. Breivik probably knows these are hopeless arguments, because he didn't spend much time on them during the trial, focusing instead on trying to prove that he is a political terrorist and not a madman.</p><p>Q: What are the possible outcomes?</p><p>A: Since an acquittal is virtually off the table, the key question for the Oslo court to decide is whether Breivik is sane enough to be held criminally responsible for the attacks. If declared insane, he will be committed to involuntary psychiatric care, indefinitely. If found mentally fit, Breivik will most likely be sentenced to "preventive detention." Unlike a regular <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1345740808_6">prison sentence</span> ? which can be no longer than 21 years in Norway ? that confinement option can be extended for as long as an inmate is considered dangerous to society. It also offers more programs and therapy than an ordinary prison sentence. Norway, like nearly all of Europe, doesn't have the death penalty.</p><p>Q: So what happens to Breivik after the ruling?</p><p>A: Regardless of the sentence, Breivik will be taken back to Oslo's Ila Prison, where he has been held in isolation for most of the time since his arrest. The prison has built a psychiatric ward just for Breivik in case he's declared insane. But even if he is, he wouldn't be placed in that unit if he immediately appeals the insanity ruling, said prison spokeswoman Ellen Bjercke. She said he would only be transferred to the psychiatric ward once the judgment is final, that is, all appeals have been exhausted.</p><p>Q: What are the conditions like at Ila? Is it like a two-star hotel?</p><p>A: Outside Scandinavia, it may seem that way, though Bjercke pointed out that the biggest hardship of being incarcerated lies in the fact that you cannot leave. The conditions inside are secondary to the loss of freedom, she said. Norway takes pride in its humane penal system, and living conditions in Norwegian prisons are probably far better than in most other countries. For example, other prisoners at Ila have access to school that offers courses from primary grade to university level courses, a library, a gym, work in the prison's various shops and other leisure activities. Because Breivik is held in isolation, without contact with other prisoners, he doesn't have access to those things. In compensation, Ila has given him three cells instead of one. Each is about 86 square feet (8 square meters.) One has gym equipment, another has a bed and the third a desk with a laptop computer. For at least one hour a day, he has access to a small courtyard covered by barbed wire. Prison officials have been more secretive about the psychiatric unit. Bjercke said Breivik would be guarded night and day by a medical staff of 17 in a ward where he is the only patient. Norwegian health authorities, in approving the ward, specified that it must provide access to fresh air, as well as a restraint bed with straps.</p><p>Q: <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1345740808_5">Will Breivik</span> ever get out?</p><p>A: Legal experts say it's unlikely Breivik will ever be released but no one can say for sure. One thing is certain though: it won't happen for as long as Norwegian authorities consider him dangerous to society. In theory, a patient committed to involuntary psychiatric care should be released if he recovers from the mental illness. But if he's still considered dangerous, he can be transferred to prison under a rarely used Norwegian law. If sent to prison, Breivik could challenge a "preventive detention" sentence every five years. One of the reasons Breivik's attacks were presented in such gruesome detail during the trial was so that the horror of Oslo and Utoya would be well-documented for the day Breivik asks to be released. "Legally speaking, he could of course theoretically be a free man in some years. But realistically speaking he would be incarcerated for perhaps the rest of his life," said Lasse Qvigstad, a former Oslo chief prosecutor.</p><p>Q: How does the appeals process work?</p><p>A: In Norway, both prosecutors and the defendant can appeal all or parts of the ruling. <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1345740808_4">Breivik</span>'s lawyer said Thursday that he will appeal if he's declared insane but would accept a prison term. An appeals trial would likely be held early next year. "He is very clear that if he is deemed insane, he will appeal, and appeal on the spot," defense lawyer Geir Lippestad said.</p><p>Q: So why does Breivik want to be sent to prison? Wouldn't he get off easier with an insanity ruling?</p><p>A: Breivik wants to be seen as a political terrorist, or as he calls himself, a "militant nationalist." The Americans lead the all-time series 44-3-5, the last loss coming at the Algarve Cup in 2001. </p><p>But it wasn't easy. Sinclair was an imposing force, scoring her 141st, 142nd and 143rd goals in international play. She's now even with Wambach for No. 2 on the all-time list, both chasing Mia Hamm's world record of 158. </p><p>Canada coach John Herdman said before the game that the run of futility against the Americans was on the minds of his players, and he addressed it with them in the run-up to the match. He also injected some pregame intrigue by accusing the Americans of using "highly illegal," overly physical tactics on free kicks and corner kicks. </p><p>Certainly, his team gave one of its most spirited efforts on the biggest stage ever for a game between the neighboring rivals, scoring the most goals the U.S. has allowed since a 5-4 win by the Americans over Australia in May 2008. </p><p>The game included a pair of goals resulting from moments rarely seen in soccer, including a corner kick that curled in for a goal and a goalkeeper whistled for holding the ball too long. </p><p>The Americans dominated possession in the early minutes, but then the U.S. defense did the unexplainable - it lost track of one of the top goal-scorers of all time. </p><p>Marie-Eve Nault played a ball ahead to Melissa Tancredi, who tapped a pass over to Sinclair. Sinclair then slalomed through the penalty area, maneuvering around defender Kelley O'Hara to beat goalkeeper Hope Solo with simple right-footer from 10 yards. </p><p>It was the first goal allowed by the U.S. in more the 360 minutes, since a pair of early scores by France in the Olympic opener two weeks ago. The U.S. also trailed at halftime for the first time in this tournament. </p><p>The Americans found an unconventional way to pull even early in the second half, with Rapinoe scoring directly on a corner kick. She curled the ball just inside the near post, glancing off the legs of defender Lauren Sesselmann and goalkeeper McLeod as it settled in the net. </p><p>Then came a wild sequence of three goals in six minutes. The Tancredi-Sinclair combo worked again, with Sinclair heading Tancredi's cross just inside the post from 10 yards to put Canada ahead 2-1. Three minutes later, Rapinoe got her second, launching a right-footer from the edge of the area and off the post. </p><p>Then it was Sinclair again, leaping high to head in a corner kick, again just inside the post for goal No. 143, moving her temporarily ahead of Wambach. </p><p>Wambach got even with Sinclair - and tied the game - with a penalty kick resulting from an unusual call: McLeod was whistled for holding the ball more than six seconds, giving the Americans an indirect free kick inside the area. Rapinoe took the kick, and it glanced off the arm of Nault. The referee awarded the spot kick, which Wambach converted off the left post in the 80th minute. </p><p>The game became a battle of attrition in extra time, with the Americans having the better of the chances. Wambach put a header off the crossbar in the 119th minute. She joins us know from London. Minister, good morning. If I can start by asking for your response to John Coate?s call for sports in schools to be made compulsory. What do you reckon?</p> <p>LUNDY:?Oh look, so many schools already have sport as a huge part of their program. These issues are of course being contemplated right now through ACARA and the national school curriculum. I know a great case has been made for sport and for active sport in that national curriculum, so we?ll see how that plays out.? I do agree though, there?s so much evidence that sport in schools brings not just health benefits, but improved academic outcomes as well. That evidence has been growing overtime now and I think sport ? I?ve described it for a long time as much more than the sum of it?s parts, and just improving, I think, the general outcomes in education is just one of them.</p> <p>ROWLAND:?Well let?s look now at other possibilities for this low medal tally. The elite sporting community gets $170 million dollars each year from the government, should John Coates be ? instead of looking at sports curriculum in schools, looking instead on how to better spend that very large pot of money on elite sports people??</p> <p>LUNDY:?Well, let?s just get this in perspective ? Australia isn?t doing badly at the Olympics ? we just don?t have very many gold medals. If you look at the number of silver medals we?ve got that?s athletes who?ve come a millisecond, a millimetre close to gold. Nothing will take that away from them. So, this discussion is an important one to have post-Olympics, post any major international event, we need to reassess, we need to take stock of our high performance program. But our athletes are not failing us. We?re bringing home bagfuls of silver medals, which means they?re that close to taking gold and we ought to be proud of them. Not talking down their achievements in the way that we are.</p> <p>ROWLAND: Yeah, well that?s the point Minister. You could be forgiven for thinking otherwise based on all of the coverage. Let?s not forget back at the time of the Crawford Review in 2009, John Coates criticised those who said the focus shouldn?t be on the medal tally as being ?un-Australian?. So, do you think we?ve got our thinking wrong here?</p> <p>LUNDY:?Look, I think medals are very easy to count and that?s what we all do at Olympics. But we?ve got a lot of other things going on here including substantial improvement with many of our younger athletes moving up in their field. So many of our smaller sports are on a very positive trajectory. We?re improving all of the time. I think these things are important to recognise. Our swimmers for example had eight personal bests and good finals representation so the system isn?t broken. That said, we need to keep innovating. One of the great strengths of Australian sport is that we innovate, that we punch above our weight with proportionally far less resources than some of the really large countries like the USA, like China, like Russia. We?ve always done that. It?s a great time I think to look at how we?re innovating in our sports science, our sports technology. As always, post-Olympics and any big event it?s time to take stock and of course we?ll be doing that. Since coming to the portfolio, we?ve already established the Australian Sports Technology Network as an example of bringing together the sports ?smarts? across our universities, across our AIS, across our research institutions, to make sure we?re leveraging the best of the best that we?ve got in Australia towards our sporting effort.</p> <p>ROWLAND:?Kate Lundy, was John Coates unrealistic to raise public expectations of these Games of Australia getting top five of the medal?s race, based on what you?ve just said about ? we?re we?ve perhaps fallen down on innovation in the last four years or so?</p> <p>LUNDY:?Again, don?t misinterpret me we?re still really strong on innovation. What?s happened over the last 10 years or so is that other countries have looked at the Australian model and emulated it and put huge resources behind that. There?s a message in that. The competition is fiercer across a larger number of countries, and of course with the British so focused on their home Games we?ve seen them have an exemplary experience so far here in London. So again I don?t think it?s broken, but this is a wake up if you like, we need to keep innovating and do what we?re great at. That?s the opportunity that sits before us.</p> <p>ROWLAND:?Would it be a brave AOC, Minister, to ask for more money after these Games?</p> <p>LUNDY: Look, no one is saying that money is the issue. And we have put record investment into both our high performance program and into our participation program. We responded to Crawford review effectively and thoroughly and of course I think it?s how that money is spent that will be part of each sport as they go through the performance assessment following the Olympics.</p> <p>ROWLAND:?Just before you go Minister, a couple of quick questions. The ABC and the Age are reporting this morning of claims of widespread allegations of race-fixing in Australia?s racing industry. Do those questions concern you?</p> <p>LUNDY: Obviously, as we all know it?s a matter for State to regulate the racing industry. That said, the Commonwealth is not complacent in this area of match-fixing and stamping out corruption. For other sports, we are well progressed in developing a regulatory framework and a legislative framework to stamp out match fixing in sport more generally where there is some jurisdiction and we?re working with State Attorneys-General and State Sport Ministers to get this legislation through before the end of the year.?? ??????</p> <p>ROWLAND: So the regulatory framework hasn?t been strong enough up until now?</p> <p>LUNDY: No, I?m talking about match-fixing for sport more generally. The regulatory framework for racing is the jurisdiction of the State and Territory governments.?</p> <p>?ROWLAND: So they should be doing much more than they have been based on these very serious allegations raised this morning?</p> <p>?LUNDY:?Well I?ve heard of these allegations, like I think we?ve all heard of them. I think we need to see what comes to pass obviously we can?t afford, and I would be gravely concerned if there was corruption in the Australian racing industry.</p> <p>?ROWLAND: And finally Minister, of course you made a very public bet with your British Sport Minister counterpart that if Australia fell below Britain on the gold medal table you would don the British colours and complete the Olympic rowing course. So how?s the training going?</p> <p>LUNDY: Yeah, well it?s underway I can assure you. I?ve cheerfully conceded this time round I?ll be rowing out of Eton. The British Team has just? been quite incredible ? their winning of not just gold medals, but medal generally. The feeling in the stadiums when the British spectators get behind their girl, their guy is just quite extraordinary. It reminds me a lot of what we experienced in Sydney. The home team is a great lift for their athletes. And all due credit to their athletes too, they?ve obviously been focused on their efforts here in London in 2012.</p> <p>ROWLAND:? [inaudible] ?
